    Program Courses

    Courses are subject to change.

This course is designed to provide learners with a basic understanding of the components of Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) building systems and their principles of operation.

    Prerequisites:

    • BSSI1068A

In this course, learners acquire the knowledge of the basic operation of equipment and components of Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) systems.

This course is designed to provide learners with an opportunity to refresh their skills in mathematics and apply them in the sheet metal industry.

This course introduces learners to materials commonly used in the sheet metal industry, their properties, and related terminology.

An important part of the Sheet Metal Fabrication program is the applied work experience component. This structured and supervised work placement provides learners with an opportunity to combine theory with practice in a real-life workplace environment. Each day, learners are exposed to the conditions and expectations of a trade work environment. As learners deepen their knowledge and develop their professional and trade skills, they are encouraged to document, reflect upon, and evaluate their experiential learning. The connection between classroom theory and an authentic work environment is explored at the end of the work term in the form of a presentation where learners share their expectations, assumptions, challenges, new ideas, and learning outcomes during their placement.

This course provides an introduction to the meaning of community service.  Students learn how community service can enhance a student’s educational experience, personal growth, employability, and civic responsibility. Students participate in one day of volunteering to enhance their understanding of civic responsibility and to help the New Brunswick Community College realize its vision of transforming lives and communities.

In this course, learners focus on applying communication skills in reading, writing, speaking, document use, and critical thinking to make communication effective and efficient while developing computer-related skills necessary to be successful in college and on the job in a trade.

In this course, learners focus on acquiring job search skills to gain a work-term placement as well as employment while also, developing interpersonal communication skills needed to grow their career.

In this course, learners are introduced to different sketching techniques used in the sheet metal industry.

This course is an introduction to the methods used to develop patterns for duct and fittings commonly used in the sheet metal industry.

    Prerequisites:

    • MATH1301A
    • PRLP1108A

This course is an introduction to the parallel, radial, and triangulation methods of pattern development.

    Prerequisites:

    • PRLP1109A

A safe and healthy workplace is the responsibility of the employer and the employee. This course introduces students to the importance of working safely and addresses how employers and employees can control the hazards and risks associated with the workplace. Students will also learn about the roles and responsibilities of key stakeholders including WorkSafeNB, the employer and the employee in ensuring workplaces are safe.

Learners are introduced to the basics of shop and site safety, as well as the basic requirements and procedures for hoisting and rigging equipment.

This course introduces learners to stationary and mobile work platforms, their applications, limitations, and procedures for use. Learners also obtain knowledge of regulatory and inspection requirements as well as maintenance and storage procedures.

    Prerequisites:

    • SECU1322B

In this course, learners acquire the essential skills and knowledge required to efficiently install duct and fittings in the workplace.

    Prerequisites:

    • SMTT1038A
    • SECU1349A
