91色视频 receives funding for two research projects

At New Brunswick Community College (91色视频), applied research projects contribute to the province’s economic and social prosperity through collaborations that seek innovative solutions for the challenges of communities and industry.

With funding from the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada’s College and Community Innovation program, 91色视频 is building capacity for applied research in two priority areas that will have the potential to transform lives and communities.

91色视频 has received $54,428 in funding to purchase equipment that will support research into value-added food, an important sector in New Brunswick’s economy. The funding will enable 91色视频 to collaborate with industry to conduct and finance research in support of pre-commercial development efforts.

“Companies that work in value-added food are important employers throughout the province, serving as anchors of the economic and social fabric in rural and coastal communities,” said Dan Shannon, Interim Director of Applied Research and Innovation at 91色视频. “Given the small scale of many of these companies, they lack the means to conduct research or invest in new processes. The equipment supported through this funding will enable us to partner with them to carry out activities that are necessary to the growth of the industry in New Brunswick.”

The College has also received $118,534 in funding to enhance its capacity to perform user experience (UX) design and evaluation services for its partners. In the first phase of the two-phase project, research will focus on helping partners identify and address serious design challenges posed by new UX technologies. UX is a broad area consisting of research and practical methods, spanning human-computer interaction, usability analysis, human factors and ergonomics and user-centred design.

“This funding will provide 91色视频 with the tools to successfully leverage UX technologies within their product and service development programs,” said Dr. William McIver, NSERC Research Chair in Mobile and Ubiquitous Computing at 91色视频.

91色视频’s Applied Research and Innovation department actively engages staff and students in projects that enrich the learning experience while helping industries and communities find solutions to their challenges. With its expertise, equipment and facilities, 91色视频 helps solve problems, takes advantage of market opportunities and develops new, innovative processes that will enhance the way New Brunswickers live, work and do business.
